Busan to Geoje to Oedo and back again…

I’ll start this off by saying that travel around Korea is SO easy.
Granted, it’s been made easier with the help of YoonTae (native Korean speaker) so maybe I’m a little spoiled.
Okay, maybe really spoiled. …Moving on.

Getting there: We started Sunday morning relatively early by meeting at the Sasang bus station (Busan) to head out around 9:40 am. We hopped on a sweet sweet charter bus to Geoje and arrived in about 1.5 hours. Tickets for the buses are around 7,000 won and you get lots of leg room and reclining chairs!
Rejoice, you can sleep on the commute. Hooray, reclining chairs!
**Upon further investigation, I found that intercity buses leave Hadan and head to Geoje for around 2,000 won.
More info on that here.

We got to Geoje, examined a conveniently placed map, and decided to go to Oedo-Botania via ferry. This is where having a Korean speaker handy is, well, handy. YoonTae asked where we could find the ferry terminal and we were sent on our way on foot. The walk is around 15 minutes. We had to ask a few times if we were going the right way, so if you have a map application, that would probably be a good idea to have on hand. Hindsight, y’all. Map it out before you lose wifi.

Here are a few snaps I got of the island, including a few one of the islands we passed on the way to Oedo from Geoje.
Side note: The captain of our ferry took us partway inside a cave in the island, which was the coolest/most terrifying part of the ferry ride. I’d imagine it’s even cooler for geology nerds.
So many rock formations! So much cleavage! So much banding! Striations? That’s all I remember from geology class. I apologize, Professor Zumwalt.
After our ride back to Geoje, we decided to veg out at Gujora Beach. **Pro tip: search for jellyfish before running baywatch-style into the water.
