Nampo has got to be one of my favorite areas in Busan. It’s got everything – food, clothes, cameras, cafes, temples, performances – you name it, it’s there. Whatever it is that you’re looking for, be it Obama socks or used books, you’ll find it in Nampo. That’s why, when a few months ago, I stumbled upon a vintage clothing labyrinth in Gukje Market, my heart exploded with a brand new love for Nampo-dong.
For the Chuseok holiday weekend, my friend Christine and I decided to skip on over to Fukuoka for a few days of ramen and relaxation. Fukuoka is a short 30 minute plane ride from Busan, so if you find cheap airfare it’s totally worth it. Otherwise, you could pop on over via ferry, but that takes a little longer. Either way, it’s well worth a visit.
When I first started this job, I wasn’t sure what kind of students I’d end up with. Luckily for me, I ended up with a group of pretty good kids who make going to work every day enjoyable. There’s never really a dull moment at my elementary school, and I’m constantly being kept on my toes.
I guess it helps to have a sense of humor that closely matches that of a 5th grader, which now that I think about it, is probably an issue. So what if I occasionally enjoy a pun or potty joke?
