Chicken and beer festival? Yes, please.

This year, on July 30th, I attended what is arguably the tastiest festival I’ve ever been to. Food and drink stalls lined the streets, overflowing with huge selections of chicken and beer. Bellies were full to bursting. Beauty was everywhere.

Happiness, thy name is Daegu Chimac Festival.

The festival this year was held July 27-31, but my friends and I headed there on the 30th.

Upon arrival in Daegu, we headed to Hani guesthouse, which is hosted by the cutest ajumma any of us had ever met. She greeted us at the door with the sweetest smile, sat us down, and poured us all orange juice at the tiny table in the living room.  She didn’t speak English and none of us are fluent in Korean, so lots of hand motions and basic phrases were thrown around. If you want to meet your long-lost Korean grandmother, book Hani hostel here. It’s super basic, but really affordable.

The festival itself was awesome. Lots of chicken, tons of beer, and two different stage areas with live music and performances all day and into the night. I’d definitely recommend the visit.
